Dream Weavers
God is the ultimate
weaver of dreams, the One who weaves dreams within us and among
us for the life of the world. The Scriptures draw our attention
to the ways in which God spoke through dreams and visions and called
people in new directions, into new places and new challenges.
Joseph is one such example. He was called to trust the unknown and
go beyond the norms of his culture so that something new and amazing
could happen. Even though he did not understand the full meaning
of his dreams, he trusted and moved forward. All of us, like Joseph,
are invited to trust the dreams. Together, we are the weavers; we
are those who bring new dreams to life. In trust, we risk the dream
and cannot fully appreciate what will come of it.
The 2006 Stewardship Report celebrates donors and friends who help
us to weave dreams into reality as we live our mission in todays
world. Support from donors and friends is a sign of trust that the
Sisters of St. Joseph are faithful to our commitment to use the
gift of resources for the mission.
Woven throughout the report are stories that tell of dreams that
came true and continue to become true because of the passion and
commitment of so many. One such story highlights the 50th anniversary
of Mount St. Joseph a dream that became a reality through
the generosity and hard work of friends and donors. As we move from
being a motherhouse to a community center, we are dreaming new dreams
for Mount. St. Joseph which includes a senior living community.
As you read this report, you will see how dreams come to life through
the good works carried out through our sponsored ministries. Sisters
and laity together in these ministries give life to our commitment
to be signs of hope for the people of West Virginia.
The report also highlights the 40th anniversary celebration of the
U.S. Federation of the Sisters of St. Joseph. The dream of this
dynamic union of the congregations of St. Joseph was born in the
hearts of visionary women in 1966 and has helped to foster our move
toward reconfiguration.
The lives of our Jubilarians of 50, 60, and 75 years are celebrated
in the report, along with the recipients of the Spirit of St. Joseph
Award. All of these persons are weavers of Gods dream, That
all may be one. It takes all of us together to help the dreams
unfold.
